We had spent the whole day in a van rolling through the countryside, trying to get a feel for the “real Ireland”. Down to Wicklow and back again. Everyone was exhausted when we got back to the city but I was more hungry than anything, so I headed out to O’Connell Street to see what I could find. It was 5 or 6 o’clock, and everything was sort of starting to close up, but I happened into a few secondhand stores along Eden Quay before rounding the corner onto Beresford Place. I wasn’t even hungry anymore, just enjoying my music and the golden color of everything the sun touched. Three songs stand out in my mind from this walkabout: “No More Running” by Animal Collective; “Sprawl II” by Arcade Fire; and “Hazey Jane II” by Nick Drake. It was perfect. This photo was taken in an alley off Beresford where I stopped to light a smoke. I was so busy looking at my awesome shadow that I almost missed what was causing it. If I had to pick a “best of” moment for this past Dublin trip, this 30 minutes alone would have to be it.

“And where is the Furry Glen located? Actually… please, don’t answer that”
“Fuck it, i’m just going to Pantibar, because at least there i know i’ll have a good time”
